What does Verified mean?
Verification means that, at the time it was reviewed, the open mic was confirmed to take place at the listed time and location. It does not mean that details such as the host, signup process, pricing, or other aspects of the event have been reviewed. Since anyone can submit an open mic, verification helps reduce spam and inaccurate listings, but we still encourage you to use discretion when attending. An open mic will remain verified as long as it has been confirmed or canceled by its host within the past 50 days.
What does Confirmed mean?
Confirmed means that the host has indicated that this specific event will take place as scheduled. Most open mics follow a regular recurring schedule, and confirmation lets participants know the host is sticking to that schedule. Note that a Confirmed event is not the same as a Verified one.
How often are listings updated?
Verified open mics must have their information confirmed within the past 50 days to keep their status. For other mics, unfortunately we can’t guarantee the details are up to date. Each open mic page includes a Report button you can use to flag any inaccuracies or issues with the event.
What if I notice incorrect information about a mic?
Every open mic page includes a Report button you can use to flag any inaccuracies or issues with the event.
How much does it cost to submit my open mic?
Submitting your open mic is free
I see my open mic on your site, how do I gain control of it?
We add open mics from all over the world to the site. If you find your open mic and want to manage it yourself, click the Claim button on the event’s page. You’ll be asked to provide some basic information to verify that you’re in control of the event. If you don’t see a Claim button, it means someone else has already claimed the mic. If you think this is a mistake, please contact us.
Can I edit or remove my open mic once it’s listed?
Yes! Once you’ve added your open mic to the site, you have full control over how it’s listed. To edit your mic, click here. From there, you can update all details. If you want to remove your open mic, you can set it to inactive or pause it until a specific date
What is an organization?
An organization is a group of individuals who run one or more events. It's useful if you're part of a venue that hosts multiple events, or if you and a few friends co-host a mic. Members of an organization can be given permission to edit specific events, manage members, or invite others.
How do I create an organization?
To create an organization, click here. You can also get there from the profile menu by clicking Organizations. Once on that page, click 'New Organization' to create one. You'll be the owner of any organization you create, and you can invite other members by email once it's set up.
What does a verified organization mean?
Verification means that, at the time it was reviewed, the FireMics team confirmed the organization is a real group of people running real events. It helps reduce spam and junk listings on the site. Verification does not mean we have reviewed how the organization runs its events, who its members are, or anything about how it operates. We make no legal, financial, or quality claims about a verified organization. We still encourage you to use discretion when attending or signing up for events run by any organization.
How do I get my organization verified?
Once your organization is set up with a name, description, and some events, an owner can click 'Request Verification' on the organization's admin page. The FireMics team will review your organization and may reach out if more information is needed. Verification is at our discretion.
What is an EPK?
EPK stands for Electronic Press Kit. It is a single page with your bio, videos, photos, press credits, and contact info. Instead of emailing a booker five attachments, you send one link. They can open it on their phone, forward it to whoever needs to see it, and come back to it later.
Who can see my EPK?
Your call. EPKs are private by default. You can share it using a private link without making it public first. When you are ready, flip it public and anyone with the link can view it.
Can I have more than one EPK?
Yes. Some performers keep a few. A comedian might have one for clean shows and a separate one for adult rooms. A musician might have one for full band bookings and one for solo sets. You can create as many as you want and set one as your primary.
What is a primary EPK?
Your primary EPK is the one people land on at firemics.com/epk/yourusername. It is a short link you can put in a bio, on a business card, or anywhere you want to be findable. If you only have one EPK it is automatically your primary. If you have more than one, you pick which one from the settings tab.
Can I sign in with a third party app (like Google or X)?
Yes! You can log in using any of our supported third-party apps (such as X (Twitter), Google, or others) as long as each of those accounts uses the same email address. We link your accounts based on email, and each email address can only be associated with one FireMics account. If the email on your third-party account is different, you’ll need to update it to match before signing in.
Can I download all of my data?
Yes! You can download your data at any time provided you have access to your security phrase. When you do, it will be exported in a JSON file. The data is decrypted on your device (so you can read it directly), and depending on how much you’ve created, the process may take a little time. To download your data, click here
How is my data protected?
We take the security of your creative content very seriously. Before your sensitive data ever leaves your device, it is encrypted in your browser using your unique security phrase. We use a secure process called PBKDF2 to transform your phrase into a strong cryptographic key, which then encrypts your content using AES-GCM, an industry-standard authenticated encryption method. This means two things: first, your phrase is never sent to or stored on our servers. Second, it ensures that your data cannot be read or even subtly altered by anyone but you. Because we never have access to your phrase, we cannot recover your data if the phrase is lost. Your phrase is the only key to your content.
I forgot my security phrase, what can I do?
Your security phrase is designed so that only you can access your encrypted content. Because we never store the phrase, we have no ability to recover it if it’s lost. This protects your privacy, but it also means the phrase must be kept safe.
Is it possible to change my security phrase?
Yes, as long as you still have your existing security phrase. Changing your phrase requires access to the current one so your encrypted data can be safely re-encrypted. We recommend downloading a copy of your data before making the change. To change your security phrase, click here
